Welcome to my adventure!

Deanna hiking the tallest peak on St. Martin

As much As I’d love to tuck you inside my suitcase and take you along, I haven’t learned the art of traveling light yet, so you won’t all fit. Instead, spend some time with me here and enjoy the ride!

My name is Deanna. By night I’m a mother/baby nurse, by day I’m a dreamer – in all the literal and figurative ways. In 2016, I met the man who is now my husband. He invited me to join him to celebrate his 50th birthday on the island of St. Martin and we’ve been traveling the world ever since. Every time we go on an adventure – big or small – I love to journal our days on social media. For me, it’s a way to remember the subtle details of each trip; for friends who follow me, it’s been a way to tag along.

When I decided to start this blog, I asked one of my friends what she thought of the title “Wander for Days.” She pondered the name and shared that she wasn’t sure because when she thought of the word “wander” it conjured up the image of someone lost and without direction. “That’s not how I see you,” she said. While I agree, I’m not an aimless wanderer, her response was exactly what I hope to convey in this site… an invitation to wander the world. Not aimlessly, but with wonder and a desire to seek out the paths less traveled.

My favorite way to travel is to pick a beginning, pick an end, and fill in the middle as we go. When planning our next adventure, I often look to other blogs, like Not a Nomad, to see what treasures other adventurers have found in our destination of choice. I make a list of cool things to see and do. Some are classic, touristy activities, the do-not-miss things. Others are random, quirky, off-the-beaten path things. Then, we pick and choose as we go. We also love talking to the locals, asking their favorite places to go and things to do. This has given us some incredibly unique and authentic experiences that I’m excited to share with you.

So please, come along as we continue exploring this incredible world we live in. I hope you find inspiration to wander and wonder and discover your own sense of adventure.
